This rumor comes from the lawsuit against copying the 'Open Book' headstock design, however, the guitars distributed by the L.D. In fact, Norlin never purchased Matsumoku, nor did they shut them down. These guitars were distributed out of Beaverton, Oregon, USA by the L.D. History It has been suggested that the Matsumoku Company in Japan from 1965 to 1972 until they were bought and shut down by Norlin, 's parent company at the time. ![]() I'd love some more information about the guitar I have! I suspect from my quick Google search on lyle guitars that not many of these would be all the way down here in New Zealand and not much info seems to be available on the Internet from my attempts to learn more. I took it into the local guitar refurbisher (I live in New Zealand) who had never heard of Lyle, but said it's in great condition and appears to be very well made. Model number is 355, and serial number is T4063. I inherited a lyle 6 string guitar from my mother, who bought it second hand in Oregon in the 70s. I recently picked up an early 70s Pan Trini Lopez copy guitar serial number 2149886 any info on. Inside of the guitar says its a model 710 but there is no serial number next.
